Help Salinas homeless shelter, Dorothy’s Place, this winter
Holiday Announcement:
Dorothy’s Place — a Salinas, CA-based homeless shelter, kitchen, healthcare clinic, and more – will again host a holiday party for our regular guests and a family party where children are encouraged to come and pick out a toy.
You can make YOUR holiday more enjoyable by remembering someone less fortunate
with a special gift from the list below. You’ll feel blessed knowing that your gift went to someone truly in need.
Drop your gift off at Dorothy’s Place or one of the Pacific Valley Bank locations listed below, and FEEL THE LOVE!
We need (for men and women):
* blankets
* gloves
* warm socks
* stocking caps
* sweatshirts & sweatpants
* coats & jackets
*500 toys for children of all ages
* long underwear
Starting Dec 1, Pacific Valley Bank locations in Salinas (422 Main St) and Monterey (498 Alvarado St) will accept donations for Dorothy’s Place – thank you Pacific Valley!
Renovation Project
Dorothy’s Place is also in the process of beginning a much-needed renovation project of their facilities. The planned renovation would update and expand the kitchen and other facilities for job skill training as well as room for expanding into a catering business for guests and volunteers. Also, the renovation plan would allow for room and walk-in freezer for storing food donations that have been refused previously for lack of storage space.
Dorothy’s Place is looking for more donation of time and materials to help offset the cost of the planned renovation. If you’d like to help be a part of Dorothy’s guests’ transformation into new jobs and independence, please email Jill at info@dorothysplace.org.
