Poetry & Prose

the day i said farewell

I think that most of these things I write are neither poetry nor prose. Just simple and melodramatic word exercises for someone with a limited vocabulary like me :)

One day I thought, “I’m going to write something about a person re-discovering love in the same person”.

the day i said farewell
i thought it well
i thought it right
to live and move
without you
by my side
on my own without you
moving breathing existing
but not alive

the weight of a thousand earths
toppled
crumbled
crushed my world
when the folly of my ways stood

naked in the light

the light that shines from your star-dipped eyes
whispering truth revealing my error
Alive Risen Resurrected
calling out my name and forgetting my shame
transfiguring my foolish heart into a love-drenched hope

a hope that screams in silence:
will she take me back?
will she forgive my ignorance?

like the promised land of undying bliss
your words flow with
milk
and
honey
:: i am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine.
you’ve seen the world without me
and i’ve felt the void without you
for this eternal love to begin
it’s time.

:: efrain 11/10/05
